Donate Your Old Mascara Wand to Help Animals!
Don’t just toss that old mascara brush in the trash! Instead, donate to the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge where it can help save an animal’s life!
The drive to collect used mascara brushes, named “Wands for Wildlife”, is an effort by the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge, based in Skyland, North Carolina. The volunteer-run non-profit group collects the wands and uses them to clean the animals they care for.
It turns out that the dense bristles on mascara brushes are perfect for cleaning the feathers and fur of wild animals. The brushes help volunteers remove fleas, fly eggs and larvae, and parasites.
